Мёбиус Август Фердинанд (1790-1868), математик и астроном, директор Пляйсенбургской обсерватории в Ляйпциге, профессор Ляйпцигского университета. Труды по проективной геометрии. Впервые ввёл систему координат и аналитические методы исследования, установил существование односторонних поверхностей (листов Мёбиуса), многогранников, которые не имеют объема. Мёбиус – один из основоположников теории геометрических преобразований, а также топологии, теории векторов и многомерной геометрии. Получил важные результаты в теории чисел (функция Мебиуса) → Universität Leipzig
